OpenText Watch posted an update
As AI accelerates vulnerability discovery, OpenText’s Cesar Vasquez argues that patching teams need three habits: prioritise, automate and verify. Sending an update is not proof it arrived.
Why it mattersHis 1 October guidance recommends ranking patches by vulnerability severity and affected systems’ importance, then rolling them through test, pilot and production environments. Approved policies can handle patch selection and deployment scheduling rather than rebuilding the plan each month. The crucial final check is installation and compliance: identify missing critical patches, failed deployments and endpoints still needing remediation. Offline devices and missed deployment windows can leave gaps behind a reassuring dashboard. Count protected systems, not merely dispatched patches.
Discuss: Should patching performance be judged primarily by deployment speed or by verified compliance on the most critical systems?
