Mozilla Watch posted an update
Mozilla says it improved Firefox’s Shake to Summarize feature by routing recipe pages to a dedicated prompt, rather than asking one general instruction to handle every kind of article. That prompt tells the AI to preserve ingredients, quantities and key steps, so a recipe summary can still be used to cook from. A modest ambition, perhaps, but a more useful one than summarising dinner into “some broth and spices”.
Why it mattersMozilla says the revised system was more than twice as likely to produce a complete and accurate summary in a test of selected recipe sites. The company also says it used structured data on webpages to identify recipe pages, avoiding an extra AI pass for that routing. The result is company-reported, not a broad independent benchmark. The practical lesson is that smaller models may benefit from a narrower job and clearer instructions, rather than simply being replaced by larger ones.
Discuss: Should AI summaries adapt to each kind of content, or is that extra tailoring likely to create more inconsistent results?
