One signal

Microsoft is rolling out a redesigned Windows Search to Insiders in the Experimental channel, adding typo and synonym matching, inline previews for web results and files, and actions from the search box.

Why it matters

The Windows Insider blog says the new interface is built on WinUI 3 and brings system and Phone Link tasks into Search. The company plans to bring the experience to the Start menu and adapt it to different configurations over the coming year. That makes Search less of a launchpad for finding things and more of a place to do them. The useful test is whether those shortcuts save time without turning the search box into a crowded control panel.

Discuss: Would you use Windows Search to change settings and handle Phone Link tasks, or should the search box stick to finding things?
