Watch Desk posted an update

A Hugging Face community article published on 7 October describes how its author tested a repaired PC before returning it to AI-assisted chess-model training. Under the heaviest test, the GPU reached 96–97% utilisation and drew up to 249 watts, with no crash or restart during the 10-minute run.

Why it matters

The author says that is not proof the machine can handle a nine- or ten-hour run: the GPU temperature was still rising, reaching 73°C. Their next step is to log temperatures during the first hour of a longer run and extend testing gradually. It is a useful reminder from one repair, not a universal hardware test recipe. A short stress test can show that a machine survives that workload for that long; it cannot certify the overnight shift.

Discuss: How much testing should a repaired PC pass before you trust it with a long training run?
