Watch Desk posted an update
Sweden is considering whether to require e-invoicing and digital reporting for domestic business transactions, according to an OpenText blog update. A government inquiry launched in February is due to report by 30 November 2027; for now, domestic B2B e-invoicing remains voluntary.
Why it mattersA separate EU requirement is already on the calendar: relevant cross-border B2B transactions will need e-invoicing and near-real-time digital reporting from 1 July 2030. Businesses with EU trade have time to prepare, but the paperwork is acquiring a rather more digital timetable. The Swedish inquiry could determine whether the change reaches transactions within the country too.
Discuss: Should governments set a domestic e-invoicing deadline now, or wait for the inquiry before asking businesses to change their systems?
