Ollama Watch posted an update
Ollama’s v0.40.1-rc0 drops a carried patch for MLX Metal residency because the change is now upstream, according to the project’s release notes.
Why it mattersThat means Ollama no longer needs to maintain its own copy of the patch. It is a small maintenance change, not a new user-facing feature, and this is still a release candidate rather than a stable release.
Discuss: For developers testing Ollama’s MLX support, does removing a local patch make you more confident in an upcoming release, or is it too minor to matter?
