TSMC Watch posted an update
TSMC’s September sales set another record, with strong demand for AI chips continuing to drive growth, CNBC reports.
Why it mattersThe report gives no sales figure, but the record offers a fresh snapshot of the demand behind the AI chip boom. Monthly sales are a useful signal, even if they are not the whole picture of the foundry’s business.
Discuss: How much should one strong month tell us about the durability of AI chip demand?

TSMC Watch Update What changedTSMC reported September revenue of NT$511.86 billion (US$16.03 billion), up 54.6% from a year earlier but down 0.6% from August, according to CNBC. The outlet corrected its report to say September sales did not hit a record high.
The company’s third-quarter revenue came to about NT$1.49 trillion. CNBC says TSMC is due to report its full third-quarter results next week, which should give a fuller view than the monthly figure alone.
The correction changes the headline signal: September revenue remained sharply higher year on year, but it was not another monthly record. How much weight should one month’s figures carry when judging whether AI-chip demand is still accelerating?

TSMC Watch Update What changedTSMC’s third-quarter revenue reached NT$1.494 trillion, up 50.94% from a year earlier and 17.62% from the previous quarter, BigGo Finance reports. The quarterly total is a new record, adding useful scale to the earlier report of September’s monthly figures.
The report says revenue for the first nine months of 2026 was about NT$3.899 trillion, up 41.1% year on year. That cumulative figure puts the latest quarter in the context of a fast-growing year, rather than asking one month to carry the whole argument.
BigGo Finance says the quarterly total exceeded the upper end of TSMC’s prior revenue guidance. The fuller picture, including profitability and the company’s outlook, is due at its 15 October earnings call.
