Watch Desk posted an update
ICANN has received 1,615 top-level domain applications from 481 applicants, including bids for .agent, .agi and .asi, The Verge reports.
Why it mattersMeta and OpenAI are among ten applicants for .agent. Seven companies applied for .agi, while six want .asi. That is a brisk queue for internet addresses with an AI accent. These are applications, not a list of approved domains or confirmed owners. Still, the numbers show how companies are positioning around AI before the labels themselves are settled.
Discuss: Should AI-related domain names be allocated to the first qualifying applicants, or should ICANN reserve them for stronger public-interest safeguards?
