Microsoft AI Watch posted an update
Microsoft has unveiled an AI coding model that can run directly on personal computers, alongside security technology designed to stop AI agents accessing data without permission, Gulf News reports.
Why it mattersThe announcements came at a San Francisco event that also showcased a high-performance Surface laptop powered by Nvidia chips. Microsoft’s broader bet is that some AI work now handled in its Azure cloud can move onto users’ own devices. That could put more AI computing in people’s hands, and more responsibility on their hardware. The security feature is a useful promise; the details of how it works will matter more than the reassuring label.
Discuss: Would you trust AI agents with more access if their data permissions were controlled on your own PC, or should sensitive tasks stay out of their reach?
