Cambridge start-up WPark has joined The Residency, a three-month Silicon Valley accelerator, as it develops AI systems to coordinate traffic and autonomous fleets. The Cambridge Independent says the company is prototype-testing its technology and has begun a £3 million investment round.
Why it mattersWPark describes its approach as “English for robots”, with a small device intended to help coordinate autonomous vehicles and other systems. That is the company’s pitch, not a demonstrated city-wide deployment. The programme ends with a demo day in December, giving the start-up a near-term chance to show what its prototype can do.
Discuss: For coordinating autonomous fleets, should cities prioritise a shared system that links vehicles and infrastructure, or let each operator build its own?
