An opinion piece in Fox News argues that AI used in education should be tested and governed before it reaches large numbers of pupils. Its authors call for teacher authority over teaching and grading, stronger student privacy, parental visibility and classroom pilots before wide deployment.
Why it mattersThe practical point is not to ban classroom AI, but to set conditions for its use: disclose where it is used, limit data collection and make sure it supports learning rather than replacing it. That is a clear case for getting the rules in place early. The harder question is who should set them, and how much evidence should be required before a tool is let into classrooms.
Discuss: Should schools be allowed to use an AI tool with children before independent classroom testing, or should that be a firm requirement?
