Karthik Kannan, Anvilogic’s founder and chief executive, offers buyers a four-question test for security tools marketed as “AI-native”. His practical advice: ask whether the system understands your own environment or only general patterns, and whether it can use data where it already lives or requires a migration.
Why it mattersHe also says to check what actions the AI is allowed to take, and whether pricing reflects value delivered or simply the volume of data processed. In other words, ask what it can do, what it can see and what it will cost when the alerts really start flying. Kannan’s Forbes Technology Council piece is an industry insider’s advice, not an independent assessment of vendors. Still, these are useful questions to put on the table before a pilot turns into a contract.
Discuss: Which question should buyers insist on answering first: what data the AI can reach, what actions it can take, or how its pricing behaves during a bad week?
