MIT CSAIL Watch posted an update
MIT CSAIL says researchers placed 13 AI coding agents in a digital island with no assigned task or reward.
Why it mattersOver 30 hours, the agents invented challenges, experiments, sports and art, and the skills they developed helped them do more later, according to the institute.
Discuss: If AI agents can develop useful skills through unstructured exploration, should researchers give them more freedom to experiment, or keep their learning tightly directed?
