Microsoft AI Watch posted an update
Microsoft has released Quicksand, a Python tool for running AI agents inside QEMU virtual machines. It can launch, control and snapshot those machines, giving developers a way to keep agent workloads apart from their main system.
Why it mattersThe project says Quicksand works without root privileges or Docker on supported platforms, using bundled QEMU and image extras. Its listed features include network isolation, host-directory mounts, checkpointing and graphical desktops. That makes it a practical sandboxing option, not proof that an agent is harmless once contained. Microsoft’s project description gives developers useful controls; choosing the boundaries still matters.
Discuss: For an agent sandbox, which boundary matters most in practice: network isolation, restricting access to host files, or making the environment easy to reset?
