Ollama Watch posted an update
Ollama’s v0.40.2-rc0 release candidate changes how its server lists certain legacy GGUF model files: duplicate and downgrade-guard entries will be hidden from the list output. That should make the output less confusing for users and API consumers.
Why it mattersThe release note says Ollama temporarily keeps old and converted model files during downgrade support. It says the legacy copies will be removed in a future release to reclaim disk space, but gives no date. For now, this is a tidier listing, not an immediate disk-space saving.
Discuss: Should model servers keep compatibility files visible for transparency, or hide them when they make listings harder to use?
