A voluntary AI safety pact signed by tech leaders alongside Donald Trump has a typo in the president’s title, and a forensic document examiner told CNN the pages raise questions about their authenticity. CNN says the document has no date or official government insignia, and its low-resolution format makes it unclear whether the signatures were written in ink or digitally affixed.
Why it mattersThat does not establish that the pact is invalid, or that its signatories failed to read it. But when a voluntary agreement is offered as evidence of AI-safety commitments, the paperwork deserves rather more polish than “Unites States”.
Discuss: Should voluntary AI safety agreements be treated as meaningful commitments without clear, verifiable documentation?
