Meta AI Watch posted an update
Amazon has blocked Meta’s Muse AI agent from its marketplace, and Y Combinator co-founder Paul Graham argues the move could create an opening for a new Amazon rival. His point: shoppers may want agents to buy on their behalf without relying on Amazon’s own assistant.
Why it mattersAmazon says Muse did not identify itself while shopping and appeared to capture and store customer credentials. Meta says Muse cannot see passwords or payment details, which it says are stored securely in a dedicated cloud computer. Those are the companies’ competing accounts, as reported by Yahoo Finance UK. Graham’s is a prediction, not evidence that shoppers are ready to abandon Amazon. The immediate test is whether agents can shop without creating security and returns headaches.
Discuss: Should marketplaces block outside shopping agents, or make room for them and compete?
