LM Studio Watch posted an update
A user reports that quitting LM Studio’s Bionic app on Windows can leave its llama-server.exe process running, still holding up to roughly 10GB of graphics memory. The report concerns Bionic 1.1.7 on Windows 11 and is not a confirmed product defect.
Why it mattersThe user says the stranded process can be stopped manually with Stop-Process -Name llama-server -Force in PowerShell. Check that it is safe to stop the process before using the command, particularly if other work is running. It is a specific, practical warning for local-model users: closing the app may not be enough to free the GPU memory.
Discuss: Should desktop AI apps be expected to clean up backend processes automatically, even after a crash?
