Forbes says Donald Trump plans to award Elon Musk the National Medal of Science at a technology summit in Washington, DC. The report’s headline, published on 7 October, is the available detail on the planned award.
Why it mattersIt is a striking choice for one of the US’s top science honours, and the distinction is worth noting without treating a planned presentation as a completed one. The practical question is what grounds Forbes gives for the award: the available account does not say.
Discuss: Should science honours recognise individual technology leaders, or focus on researchers and teams?
