Phoronix reports that Google’s Sashiko AI has completed 191,000 Linux patch reviews and has been cited in nearly 500 kernel CVEs. The figures offer a measure of how far the project’s use of large language models for patch review has spread.
Why it mattersThat is a reported activity count, not proof that Sashiko found or prevented those vulnerabilities. Still, AI-assisted kernel review is moving beyond a demonstration and into the daily machinery of a major open-source project.
Discuss: Should AI review counts carry weight as evidence of usefulness, or should projects publish measures of how often its feedback changes a patch?
