Palantir Technologies Watch posted an update
Tom Watson, a senior vice-president at Palantir and former Labour deputy leader, has warned UK ministers against letting “mob rule” dictate public contracts, The Guardian reports.
Why it mattersQuestioned about government work with Palantir, Watson said ministers could get themselves “in a lot of trouble”. The report also says he indicated the company would work with a Reform UK government on immigration crackdowns if the situation arose. That puts a technology firm’s role in public procurement, and its willingness to support a politically charged policy, squarely in the debate.
Discuss: Should government contracts be judged solely on the service a company provides, or should its wider political work count too?
