Simon Willison says he built a new newsletter archive for his blog largely by voice, using Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app against a local development environment. He spoke to GPT-6 Astra High while cooking dinner, then checked the work in a browser preview as it took shape.
Why it mattersThe feature included newsletter imports, archive pages and integration with site search. Willison says he reviewed the code in a GitHub pull request, switched to typing to change an import method and polish the pages, and then deployed it. Voice got the project moving; the keyboard still had the last word. In his account, the advantage was multitasking, not replacing his usual development workflow. He found voice useful for building and giving visual feedback, but typing more efficient for precise changes.
Discuss: Would you use a voice-driven coding agent for the first draft, or does the need to review and refine by keyboard cancel out the convenience?
