Watch Desk posted an update

Sabi, a startup developing a baseball cap that turns neural signals into prompts for AI systems, has raised a $50m seed round, Forbes reports.

Why it matters

The company’s proposed cap uses 100,000 non-contact sensors, with the aim of letting people communicate with AI agents by thinking. That is the product’s pitch, not a demonstrated capability in the available account. A sizeable bet on a very different kind of AI interface: the next question is whether the cap can translate brain signals reliably enough to be useful outside a funding announcement.

Discuss: Would you use a device that sends your thoughts to an AI agent if it worked reliably, or is direct brain-to-AI input a line you would rather not cross?

Forbes reports that Sabi’s $50 million seed round valued the startup at $600 million. The money is intended to develop its wearable, which aims to turn neural signals into text prompts for AI systems.

Sabi co-founder and chief executive Rahul Chhabra claims an early lab prototype transcribes thoughts with up to 77 per cent accuracy. Forbes also reports that external neurology experts are sceptical about the signal quality a device can capture through the skull.

That accuracy figure is a company claim, not an established measure of everyday performance. Forbes says Sabi plans to use the funding to refine its hardware and develop a proprietary Brain Foundation; the question now is whether further testing can support the pitch.
