TechRadar’s Eric Hal Schwartz used Google Playground to make two playable games in minutes, including a dragon platformer and a bureaucratic fantasy RPG. His tests show how quickly the tool can turn a written idea into something you can try, even without coding skills.
Why it mattersThe more detailed RPG reflected its prompt in its dialogue and character ideas. But Schwartz found that generated gameplay still needed work, and testers were most interested in elements he had written into the prompt himself. That makes Playground look more useful as a prototyping tool than a shortcut to a finished game.
Discuss: How much of a game should AI generate before the designer’s own ideas and craft become the main attraction?
