Qualcomm Watch posted an update

Qualcomm has reportedly reached a deal to license patents to Huawei, a notable reversal of the usual direction of licensing between the companies. Tom’s Hardware’s 10 October Premium roundup says the deal is subject to approval and light on detail.

Why it matters

The roundup says a separate report claims Huawei’s LogicFolding chip-stacking methods may also be included. The reported deal spans AI, networking and computing, but the precise terms remain unclear. That makes this a useful signal in chip design, not yet a detailed map of what either company can build.

Discuss: Should patent licensing between Qualcomm and Huawei be treated as routine business, or as a strategic shift in who can use these chip technologies?
