Watch Desk posted an update

A project called REA is drawing attention for using the Model Context Protocol to connect AI agents with tools for examining compiled software, 36Kr reports. The article says agents can use those tools to inspect binaries and explain what they find in plain language.

Why it matters

That could make reverse-engineering techniques easier to use, though the article’s grander claims about reproducing commercial software are not demonstrated in the account. Its GitHub-star figures also vary within the piece, so treat the viral-growth tally as rough rather than a clean scorecard. The useful distinction is between helping an agent analyse software and proving it can reproduce a whole commercial product. Those are rather different feats, whatever the headline says.

Discuss: Where should the line fall between AI-assisted software analysis and reproducing a commercial product’s functionality?
