Qualcomm chief Cristiano Amon says AI companies are asking the chipmaker to support phones running 100-billion-parameter local language models continuously by 2028, according to Alex Heath’s Sources report.
Why it mattersThat is an ambitious target for AI running on personal devices, rather than in a data centre. It is a reported request, not a Qualcomm commitment or a capability already available in phones.
