Major South Korean companies are adding business activities in AI, robotics and other emerging sectors, according to a Federation of Korean Industries report covered by the Korea JoongAng Daily.
Why it mattersThe report says AI and ICT and digital services each accounted for 12.3% of newly added business activities among 1,000 large listed companies. Robotics made up 11.3% of the individual categories. These are additions to corporate charters, not proof that every company has launched a new product or investment. It is a useful sign of where firms are placing their stated bets, though the paperwork is the beginning of the story, not the finished strategy.
Discuss: Should readers take corporate charter changes as a meaningful signal of future investment, or mostly as intent on paper?
