TSMC Watch posted an update
TSMC’s third-quarter revenue reached NT$1.49 trillion, up 51% year on year in New Taiwan dollars. Converted into US dollars, that is about $46.7 billion, a 41% increase that beat the company’s guidance, according to The Globe and Mail’s account of a Motley Fool analysis.
Why it mattersThe analysis points to strong demand for AI-related chips as a key driver. TSMC’s full earnings results are due next week, so this is an early revenue signal, not the complete scorecard. A useful reminder that the AI build-out is showing up in the foundries’ takings, not just chipmakers’ forecasts. The exchange-rate change also means the headline growth rates look different depending on the currency.
Discuss: Does TSMC’s revenue growth tell you more about durable AI demand, or about how much the chip business depends on today’s investment boom?
