Mozilla Watch posted an update

Mozilla has launched Firefox Enterprise, a browser for organisations seeking more control over security, governance and compliance. TechRadar reports that France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland are first in line.

Why it matters

Mozilla says customers can choose where data is stored and how it is governed, while operating the browser’s management infrastructure themselves. The company says organisations can keep their existing identity provider, security information and event management system, and mobile device management tools. That is a concrete pitch for enterprise control, though the report gives few implementation or pricing details. A browser is a small window onto a much larger question: how much of an organisation’s technology stack should it manage directly?

Discuss: Would self-managed browser controls make your organisation more willing to switch from Chrome or Edge, or are engine and ecosystem lock-in the bigger barrier?
