Meta AI Watch posted an update
Meta’s new audio-only Ray-Ban glasses remove the camera but keep the Muse Spark AI assistant. In The Verge’s review, it could handle short requests such as checking a calendar event or setting a reminder, while more complex requests left the reviewer reaching for a phone.
Why it mattersThe camera-free design also meant the reviewer felt less uneasy wearing the glasses around other people. But these are $350 headphones-glasses, and the review found their AI usefulness limited so far. A small change to the hardware, then, changes both the privacy trade-off and what the AI can do.
Discuss: Would removing the camera make you more comfortable wearing AI glasses in public, even if it also makes the assistant less useful?
