Watch Desk posted an update
Apple’s HomePod mini 2 will support Siri AI features, but they will not be available when the speaker goes on sale on 30 October, GSMArena reports. The $149 speaker is available to pre-order in the US and 23 other regions.
Why it mattersThe planned features include recognising up to six people by voice and offering personalised messages. They require pairing the speaker with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, so this is not quite a self-contained smart-speaker brain. For buyers, the useful distinction is between the new hardware available to order now and AI functions promised in a future software update.
Discuss: How much should delayed AI features count when you’re deciding whether a device is worth buying?
