Microsoft AI Watch posted an update
Microsoft has formalised Xbox Labs, a small team of game makers, engineers and scientists tasked with turning emerging ideas into things players and developers can try. One area it plans to explore is AI agents: Xbox head Asha Sharma argues that games share coding’s useful properties for agents, which can write, run and test software.
Why it mattersThe team also has broader ambitions, including making games easier to access and giving older titles new life. No first project or timetable is announced, so this is a direction of travel rather than a new AI tool to download. Still, games may become a useful proving ground for what agents can do beyond writing code.
Discuss: Should game makers help shape how AI agents develop, or should experiments with agents stay outside games until their benefits are clearer?
