Nokia Watch posted an update
Portugal’s MEO and Nokia are launching a joint programme to explore AI and automation in real-world network environments, TelecomTV reports. The initiative covers network design, operation, monitoring and optimisation.
Why it mattersThe partners say they intend to develop and test concrete use cases, with networks that can detect changes, anticipate needs and respond more quickly. No specific deployments or results are announced yet, so this is a research-and-innovation programme, not an autonomous network already rolling out. For telecoms operators, the promise is networks that can adapt with less manual intervention. The useful test will be what the partners actually build, and whether it works beyond the announcement.
Discuss: Should network operators automate more of their infrastructure, or keep people firmly in the loop?
