Netflix-owned Eyeline Studios is using generative AI to replace locations, rebuild crowds and change lighting after filming, Variety reports. The work is part of a “hybrid production” approach that combines live-action photography, conventional visual effects and generative tools.
Why it mattersEyeline vice-president Mohsen Mousavi said the studio is also developing tools that could let directors reposition a camera after an actor’s performance has been captured. That is a work in progress, not a capability Variety says is already in use. AI in film production is becoming less about typing a prompt and more about changing what a shot can be after the cameras stop rolling.
Discuss: Where should filmmakers draw the line between post-production flexibility and altering a performance?
