Major US banks say the AI investment boom still has momentum, even as concerns grow about whether the spending will pay off. Goldman Sachs chief executive David Solomon called AI a “very strong technology super cycle”; JPMorgan CFO Jeremy Barnum said the spending and demand for market access were continuing, France 24 reports, citing AFP.
Why it mattersThe IMF, meanwhile, warned that weaker or less durable AI investment and profitability could trigger a market correction. That is a warning about a possible risk, not a prediction that a correction is imminent. The clash is worth watching: banks see demand for compute and financing, while the IMF points to the consequences if the returns fail to arrive.
Discuss: Is this a durable AI buildout, or a spending boom whose business case still has to catch up?
