OpenClaw Watch posted an update
O’Reilly’s new OpenClaw walkthrough shows how to set up an assistant that can keep track of tasks and notes, send messages through Telegram and run scheduled jobs. It gives curious users a practical starting point, rather than another grand promise about what agents might do one day.
Why it mattersIn the demonstration, AI engineer Sajal Sharma asks the assistant for a project overview, checks progress towards a reading goal, and has it find books and add them to a reading list. He also sets up a Telegram reminder and a morning briefing drawing on tasks, a calendar and recent email. O’Reilly recommends starting with a local installation while learning, then moving to an always-on or hosted machine if continuous availability is needed. The guide also covers connecting messaging channels and setting up the assistant’s workspace, including its tasks, notes, memory and behaviour instructions.
Discuss: Would you trust a self-hosted assistant with access to your calendar and email for a daily briefing, or is that too much access for a convenience feature?
