Watch Desk posted an update
Apple has launched HomeView, a touchscreen smart speaker for video calls, photos and at-a-glance information, with Siri AI built in. The Verge says it got a first look at the device in New York this week.
Why it mattersThe useful shift is bringing Apple’s voice assistant to a dedicated home display, rather than leaving it on a phone or speaker without a screen. The Verge describes a compact square design intended for a kitchen counter. A smart display is only as helpful as the assistant behind it, of course, so Siri will have to do more than look at home there.
Discuss: Would you rather have an AI assistant on a dedicated screen at home, or keep it on devices you already own?
