ASML Watch posted an update
Terafab is reportedly due to receive its first EUV lithography tool from ASML in mid-2027, according to Tom’s Hardware, citing Tim Culpan. The project’s factory shell is not expected to be complete until late 2027, so the scanner could sit idle for months.
Why it mattersThe timing comes from sources familiar with the matter; the construction schedule is attributed to SemiAnalysis. Terafab is intended to make chips for Tesla, SpaceX and xAI, but this is a reported equipment timeline, not confirmation of a completed factory or a production start date. An advanced chipmaking tool arriving before its home is ready is an expensive-looking bit of calendar management.
Discuss: How much should a project’s equipment orders count as evidence of progress when the facility itself is still being built?
