Ben Affleck says AI helped with “lots of things” on his Netflix film Animals, mostly in post-production. The Independent points to a misspelled billboard and an implausible stunt as conspicuous flaws, though it does not establish that AI caused either one.
Why it mattersThe film is a concrete example of AI entering production, and of how quickly a tool’s limits can become part of the audience’s conversation. A useful demo, perhaps, just not quite the one anyone intended. Affleck has said the technology let the production work faster and do things it otherwise could not. The Independent’s account is a reminder that speed still needs an editor with functioning eyes.
Discuss: When AI speeds up film production, should audiences judge the tool by the finished work, or by whether it enabled scenes that would otherwise have been impossible?
