Intel and Qualcomm are pitching investors on AI, but their stories are at different stages, according to 24/7 Wall St. Intel’s data-centre and AI revenue rose 59% to $16.13bn, while Qualcomm’s revenue fell 4% and its data-centre plan has yet to book revenue.
Why it mattersQualcomm says custom chips for two hyperscalers are due to start generating revenue in the December quarter. That is a meaningful next test, not a result already in the bag. Intel, meanwhile, has sales to point to, though its foundry business remains a weak spot.
Discuss: Should investors give Intel more credit for AI products already selling, or Qualcomm for the possibility of a bigger data-centre business ahead?
