Nokia Watch posted an update
Nokia and Portuguese telecoms operator MEO have launched a joint programme to test AI in real-world network operations, Mobile Europe reports. The work will focus on network management, monitoring and optimisation.
Why it mattersThe companies say they will explore using AI to spot problems earlier and anticipate changes in demand. That makes this a practical trial of AI in network operations, not an announcement of a deployed system or measured performance gains. Network AI is moving from conference talk to tests on the infrastructure people rely on. The useful measure will be whether it improves performance in practice, not how many times the word “smarter” appears in the announcement.
Discuss: Should telecom operators let AI make network changes automatically if it can spot problems sooner, or should people approve every intervention?
