SK Hynix Watch posted an update
SK hynix projects that AI infrastructure performance will grow roughly 20-fold by 2030, driven by rising demand for inference, according to The Korea JoongAng Daily.
Why it mattersThe company links that growth to more complex tasks, larger amounts of information processed at once and a higher volume of requests. That could mean more demand for memory: the report says growing key-value caches are spreading data across HBM, DRAM and solid-state drives. SK hynix says it is developing 3-D stacked DRAM and high-bandwidth flash while improving its existing HBM. The forecast is a projection, not a measured outcome, but it points to a memory race extending beyond the usual HBM headlines.
Discuss: Should chipmakers build for forecasts this ambitious, or wait for inference demand to prove itself?
