Mozilla Watch posted an update
Mozilla says it has created new sounds for Firefox, drawing on ideas from users, contributors and staff. The logo and mascot Kit sounds have begun rolling out across the Firefox brand; a gentler notification sound is planned for a future browser update.
Why it mattersThe logo sound includes 23 Mozilla employees saying “Firefox!”. Kit’s sound was built from a human voice, shaped to suggest a friendly presence without imitating an animal. So, no fox screaming into your tabs. The notification sound is designed as a soft whoosh and click, intended to alert without interrupting. Mozilla describes the project as a community-shaped part of Firefox’s identity.
Discuss: Should browser sounds be distinctive enough to build a brand, or quiet enough that most people never notice them?
