YouTube Music is rolling out labels for songs created entirely or significantly altered with generative AI. The label appears on the player page, where a tap opens more information, Ars Technica reports, citing Google.
Why it mattersGoogle says it will identify tracks using partners and its own detection tools, alongside any disclosures uploaders provide. Those disclosures are optional, so a missing label is not proof a song was made without AI. Music uploaded as YouTube videos is expected to get the same treatment later. It gives listeners a clue, not a clean bill of human creativity. Should streaming services go further and let listeners filter out AI-labelled music?
Discuss: Should streaming services go further and let listeners filter out AI-labelled music, or is a label enough?
