Students taking South Korea’s 2027 university entrance exam will have their paper invalidated if they bring smart glasses into the testing room, even if they do not wear them, Korea JoongAng Daily reports, citing guidelines from the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation.
Why it mattersWearing the glasses during the exam carries a stiffer penalty: invalidation and a one-year ban from taking the test. Refusing a proctor’s request to check them could also be treated as serious misconduct after review. The practical advice is unusually unambiguous: leave smart glasses outside the exam room.
Discuss: Should exam authorities treat possession alone as cheating, or reserve the harshest penalties for devices actually used to gain an advantage?
