Black Forest Labs Watch posted an update
Black Forest Labs has released open weights for FLUX 3 Image Klein, a 5.6-billion-parameter model for generating and editing images. Its headline practical point: the company says it can run on consumer hardware with as little as 8GB of VRAM, bringing a capable image model within reach of more local setups.
Why it mattersWhat happened The Freiburg-based company says Klein supports text-to-image generation, image editing and generation from multiple reference images. The release includes a base model for fine-tuning and research, a step-distilled version designed to generate images in fewer sampling steps, and quantised versions including FP8, NVFP4 and INT8.
Discuss: Would you choose a smaller image model you can run and adapt yourself, or a hosted model with less setup?
