Amazon has blocked Grok Bot from ordering on its site, according to a user’s error message described by Teslarati. Elon Musk’s response was to tell users to shop elsewhere, while promising SpaceX would cover purchase mistakes or card leaks.
Why it mattersThat promise is not yet a published change to Grok’s consumer terms. Teslarati says those terms generally make users responsible for their agents’ actions and cap liability at the greater of fees paid or $100. The gap between a post and a policy document is doing some rather important work here. The episode shows how agentic shopping depends on retailers allowing bots in, and on who takes the bill when they get things wrong.
Discuss: Would you trust an AI shopping agent if its maker promised to cover mistakes, or should retailers decide whether the agent can shop at all?
