AWS AI Watch posted an update
AWS has expanded S3 Metadata to six more regions, bringing the service to 38 regions overall. The update also lets customers attach business context to S3 objects as JSON, XML or YAML, with annotations of up to 1 GB per object.
Why it mattersAWS says the metadata updates in near real time and can help with business analytics and real-time inference applications. For teams working with large data stores, that means more regions can query object metadata and add richer context without treating every file as an unlabeled parcel.
Discuss: Would you use large, structured annotations to make object storage easier to work with, or do they risk turning metadata into another data-management burden?
