Microsoft AI Watch posted an update
Microsoft says IDC has named Dynamics 365 a Leader in its 2026 assessment of AI-enabled operational ERP. The announcement is also a useful snapshot of Microsoft’s pitch: AI agents connected to business systems, data and processes through an MCP-based architecture.
Why it mattersMicrosoft describes agents for procurement, account reconciliation, time entry, expenses and approvals as being in production-ready preview. That is a company description, not evidence that the tools are broadly available or improving business outcomes. The practical question is whether these agents can take useful work off people’s plates while keeping business controls in place.
Discuss: Should companies trust AI agents to act inside core financial and operational systems, or keep them firmly in an assistant role?
